Tuning house APR’s

SEMA

centerpiece is this

Volkswagen Golf R

finished in touring car style. Built from the already impressive R, APR’s

Golf

RLMS has had a whopping 244-horsepower boost to 536 hp.

The 2.0-liter turbo engine has received APR’s Stage III+ build, which includes a twin-scroll Borg Warner turbocharger and an

ECU

upgrade, as well as upgraded injectors, fuel pump, intercooler and a carbon fiber intake. APR says the development has taken over a year and a half, with emphasis placed on minimizing turbo lag and providing “extreme horsepower.” There’s 474 pound-feet of torque, and quarter mile times are said to be in the 10-second range. From 0 to 140 mph, the RLMS is a whole 15 seconds quicker than a factory

.

But the tuned engine is only part of the deal here: the real eye-catcher is the TCR-inspired widebody kit, complete with a graphite grey/white livery that’s a combination of camouflage and dazzle ship paintjob. The wide fenders jut out from the body lines, accentuating the custom two-piece wheels. There’s a deep front splitter and an adjustable rear wing for all the downforce the car could need – and the all-wheel-drive R’s handling is beefed up with a racing coilover setup and stabilizer bars. For extra safety, APR has installed a custom roll cage along with OMP harnesses and a fire extinguisher system.

And the RLMS isn’t just a showpiece, as it will be hauled around the country for track days. “APR’s extensive racing history has helped us to develop the Golf RLMS”, said APR’s President Mitch Williams. “We wanted to create a Stage III track car that can dominate circuits around the country. With 536 horsepower and all wheel drive, we can’t wait to turn some laps.”
