VW Board Expected to Support Audi CEO

Despite criticism of the way he handled the dieselgate scandal, rumors that VW has lost faith in the Audi CEO Rupert Stadler mat be overblown.
A new report form Automotive News quotes sources who say that Volkswagen’s management board will continue to back Stadler, who has seen the company become the most profitable VW Group brands.
Criticism has dogged Stadler since the company admitted to deceptive emissions practices after first denying them. The fires of criticism were stoked again this week, following a wrongful dismissal hearing brought by one of the four senior engineers Audi fired last week.
“Public mudslinging not only harms Rupert Stadler as a person, but also the entire company and in the view of the works council, that definitely goes way too far,” a spokesman for the Audi works council told Reuters today.
Despite that, both the Audi and the Volkswagen, sources say that Stadler is expected to win the full backing of the Volkswagen Group’s top brass.
