Porsche’s record for quality is well documented. Over the last several months several recalls have cropped up, generally affecting a very small number of vehicles each time. A recent recall affected just 85 cars across numerous model lines. A new voluntary safety recall was just announced, this time affecting 16,429 vehicles globally.

This latest recall from Porsche concerns the screws which affix the fuel collection pipes. The screws used on the affected cars may come loose. Porsche is providing newly designed screws to alleviate the issue as a precaution. Affected vehicles include the 911 Carrera, along with the 718 Boxster and Cayman.

Porsche Describes the Defect as Follows:

Porsche is inspecting 16,429 vehicles around world in the 911 Carrera, 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman model lines, of which 2,576 are in Germany. On the affected vehicles, it is possible that the screw connection on the fuel collection pipes may come loose. In the workshop, the fastening screws will be replaced with newly designed screws. This is purely a precautionary measure.

How Porsche Will Remedy the Issue:

At press time this recall does not appear on the NHTSA website. According to Porsche’s press release from this morning the owners of affected vehicles will be contacted directly by their responsible Porsche importer or distributor. The service will be handled, free of charge, by an authorized Porsche dealer as soon as possible

We’ll update this post with new information as it becomes available from Porsche and/or the NHTSA website.
