Formula E’s Race Car Concept Looks Incredible

The future is looking bright for Formula E, the racing series that uses all-electric cars.
Spark Racing Technology has announced it will develop the Formula E Season 5 car, releasing the above preview images of a concept race car to get everyone excited. Not only does the race car look amazing and futuristic, but the company also says it will be built on an all-new chassis so that the new car can go twice the distance of the current cars. Along with more efficient aerodynamic design, Spark intends to lower the weight and find better efficiency with the drivetrain. Naturally, safety and innovation are the main priorities of the project.
In 2013, FIA officially appointed Spark Racing Technology as the car supplier for the Formula E Championship since the series’ first season. Last year, FIA put chassis supply for season 5 (2018-2019) out to tender and Spark Racing Technology impressed with the SRT05e, the successor to SRT01.
Part of the deal is to incorporate a better, more energy-dense battery, which will inevitably make the cars heavier. Spark will have to look at shaving weight from other parts of the car. Racer reports the batteries are developed by McLaren Applied Technologies and will boost power from 28 kWh to 54 kWh.
