Breaking down the fullsize truck segment in search of the best deals

Biggest discounts on brand-new pickup trucks
The fullsize pickup segment in America is just as hot today as it ever has been. But these days, it’s also a little confusing.
Several manufacturers released new versions of their best-selling pickups for 2019, but at the same time they also kept the assembly lines churning for the previous versions. That means pricing reports are all over the map, and discounts that apply to one truck may not apply to another, even if they share the same name and model year.
The good news is that there are some really good trucks for sale right now, and some of them are offered at a massive discount. This slideshow breaks down the different fullsize truck models in the half-ton class for sale in 2019, and includes average transaction prices for each. We’ve sorted the list by the percentage of discount off their suggested retail prices.
Without further ado, click on the image above to get started.
2018 Nissan Titan
MSRP: $45,896
Transaction Price: $37,239
Discount: $8,657
Percentage Discount: 19%
If you’re looking to score the biggest percentage off retail price on a brand-new fullsize truck, the 2018 Nissan Titan and its 19% price slash is your pickup.
Note that these transaction prices are for the 2018 edition; the 2019 Titan’s average cost of $39,214 represents a 12.6% discount. That’s still not bad, but as you’ll see as you scroll through this list, there are a lot more deals you should know about.

2018 Nissan Titan XD
MSRP: $47,334
Transaction Price: $38,976
Discount: $8,358
Percentage Discount: 17.7%
Nissan splits its fullsize truck attack into two entries, the standard Titan and the XD, which is a little more burly and is available with a 5.0-liter Cummins turbo diesel V8 engine.
If you want to buy a still-new 2018 Titan XD, you’ll probably score a great deal. The average transaction price right now in America, at a few bucks shy of $39,000, represents a 17.7% discount off MSRP.
The 2019 Titan XD’s average transaction price is nearly $10,000 higher at $48,294.

2019 GMC Sierra Limited
MSRP: $45,339
Transaction Price: $38,001
Discount: $7,338
Percentage Discount: 16%
GMC is currently selling two fullsize pickup trucks in America. There’s a brand-new redesigned 2019 model, and then there’s this: the 2019 GMC Sierra Limited. This particular entry is the older version, though it is badged as a 2019 model.
Of all the 2019s, the Sierra Limited’s average discount of $7,338 represents the largest discount off MSRP that you’ll find in June. But it’s not the cheapest new fullsize truck — click over to the next slide to see why.
2019 Ram 1500 Classic
MSRP: $37,981
Transaction Price: $32,166
Discount: $5,815
Percentage Discount: 15%
With an average transaction price of just $32,166, the 2019 Ram 1500 Classic is the least expensive 2019-model-year fullsize truck in America in June 2019.
As is the case with General Motors, Ram chose to keep selling the old version of its 1500 — rebadged as the 1500 Classic — alongside the redesigned version. This discount applies to the 1500 Classic.
We’ll get to the newer version of this truck a few slides from here.

2018 Chevrolet Silverado
MSRP: $44,374
Transaction Price: $37,724
Discount: $6,650
Percentage Discount: 15%
There are still leftover 2018 Chevy Silverado trucks floating around dealership lots in America, and, as you can see by the numbers above, they’re selling at fairly reasonable prices. That good, but things are awfully confusing in Chevy dealerships these days.
Just like Ram and GMC, Chevrolet has two 2019 fullsize trucks on sale: The old version is badged Silverado 1500 LD, and it’s basically the same as it was in 2018. The average transaction price on the 2019 Silverado 1500 LD stands at $38,772. That means it’s just a little bit more expensive than leftover 2018 models, which are actually pretty much identical save the model year.
The 2019 Chevy Silverado — not the older 1500 LD that we referenced above — isn’t seeing big discounts right now. That truck’s average transaction price of $43,380 represents a small 6.2% discount over MSRP. In fact, that’s the lowest discount percentage of any new 1500-class fullsize truck in America.
2018 Ford F-150
MSRP: $45,654
Transaction Price: $39,483
Discount: $6,171
Percentage Discount: 14%
This one is pretty straightforward. As you’d expect, the biggest discounts on the F-150 are for leftover 2018 models.
By comparison, the 2019 Ford F-150’s average transaction price of $43,344 represents a savings of $4,580 — or a little under 10 percent — off MSRP.
Ford F-150 Information
2019 Ram 1500
MSRP: $48,724
Transaction Price: $42,435
Discount: $6,289
Percentage Discount: 13%
The discount above is for the brand-new 2019 Ram 1500, not the older version that’s badged 1500 Classic. And with an average transaction price that’s 13 percent lower than the sticker, this latest-and-greatest is also a pretty decent deal.
2019 GMC Sierra
MSRP: $55,495
Transaction Price: $49,315
Discount: $6,181
Percentage Discount: 11%
GMC fancies its Sierra as the slightly more upscale twin to the Chevy Silverado, and that’s reflected in the 2019 Sierra’s average transaction price of a few hundred dollars shy of $50,000.
That’s a not-insignificant savings of 11 percent off MSRP, but the 2019 Sierra is still the priciest pickup on this list. We’d bet the popularity of the chrome-clad and leather-lined Sierra Denali trim level is responsible for its high average cost.
2019 Toyota Tundra
MSRP: $43,810
Transaction Price: $41,044
Discount: $2,766
Percentage Discount: 6%
The 2019 Toyota Tundra — we don’t have data on the 2018 edition, which means there probably aren’t a lot of them left unsold — doesn’t see big rebates like some of its American competitors, but its average transaction price of $41,044 is still pretty reasonable by comparison.
2019 Chevrolet Silverado
MSRP: $46,205
Transaction Price: $43,380
Discount: $2,825
Percentage Discount: 6%
Last but not least, we have the 2019 Chevy Silverado. As we mentioned earlier in this slideshow, Chevy has two fullsize offerings for 2019. The 6% discount here is for the newer version, not the older 1500 LD that we saw earlier in this list.
