has been really good about keeping
the 2020 Chevy Silverado HD under thick wraps
, but one of our photographers caught a couple examples on which the disguise was thinner. As such, we get our best look yet at the whole front fascia of the new heavy duty pickup truck. We also spot a new convenience feature on the bed.
We’ll start with the truck’s nose. One example has production-spec LED headlights fitted, and they shine through the camouflage. There’s a strong influence from the new
, both with sharp corners on the lights and the way the grille becomes wider the farther down the nose it goes. The overall rectangle shape and split headlights are still distinctly Silverado.
As for the bed, we spot a return of the stepside feature. There’s a tough-looking plastic step just ahead of the rear wheels. It combines the convenience of traditional narrow stepside, or sometimes called flareside beds, but with the full width of modern-day beds that were once sometimes referred to as “fleetside.” And like other recent
, the rear bumper still has molded-in steps.
A reveal date has yet to be set by
. The company provided
a teaser image earlier this year
, along with the model year, so we suspect it will be shown sometime in 2019, possibly by the end of the
season. But another possibility is the Texas State Fair and auto show, which is usually a truck-focused event. We don’t have powertrain details, it will undoubtedly be available with gas and
V8s under the hood.
