Yesterday, we published

photos of a minimally disguised Porsche test mule

, estimating that the images showed the eventual “Sport Turismo” wagon derivative of the upcoming

Porsche

Taycan electric sedan. Today, Porsche appears to have confirmed that the Taycan will indeed get a “sportsback” variant, as it announced that there will be a production version of the Mission E Cross Turismo. Seen at this year’s

Geneva Motor Show

, the Cross Turismo concept was a slightly crossover-style wagon version of the Mission E

concept car

, which previewed the Taycan.

While the concept car had black body cladding on its wheel arches, as well as a slightly jacked-up ride height, we expect that the production car will mainly gain the slightly different body, not necessarily the crossover-style add-ons. The test mule from the

had a normal-looking ride height and no plastic decoration other than the requisite disguise.

Porsche also says that the wagon’s production version will create an additional 300 jobs at the Zuffenhausen plant, where it has added 1,200 people to build the Taycan.

The 600-horsepower car will, according to Porsche, have a NEDC range of 500 kilometers, or 310 miles. The Taycan sedan version will launch in 2019, so the Sport Turismo wagon could follow it in 2020 — or it might even debut at the same time.
