Audi Sets Monthly Sales Record, Sun Also Rises

For the 74th month in a row—that’s six years and two months for those counting at home—Audi USA has set another sales record. The company reports that sales are up 17% to 13,741 in February.
That increase was driven by, well, most of Audi’s models, actually. Sales of SUVs, though, rose especially quickly, increasing by 30%.
“SUVs now make up 50 percent of our sales volume, so we are excited about the launch of the all-new Q5 this spring,” said Mark Del Rosso, COO. “We are optimistic that this new model will build on the success of its predecessor and attract new fans to the Audi brand.”
Sedan lovers also have reason to rejoice, though. Sales of the A4 also rose 30%, bucking the industry trend away from sedans. The A7 and A8 also rose, 10% and 15% respectively.
Interestingly, sales of the A3 e-tron were among the most improved, rising sharply by more than 60%. That still only amounts to 400, but is in contrast to sales of the gas-powered A3, sales of which dropped by 20%.
The only other cars whose sales slipped in February were the TT and the A5.
As a result of the strong performances, two months into 2017 Audi’s sales have increased 14%.
