Hennessey

has turned its tuners on the best-selling

Ford F-150

for its latest entry in its Ford-themed Heritage Edition, and the result is this: a truck swathed gaudily in bright red paint and highlighted with white racing stripes and numbers that nearly doubles output to 768 horsepower.

The upgrade

is available only on 2018-2019 F-150s equipped with the 5.0-liter V8, which normally does 395 hp and 400 pound-feet of torque. But Hennessey adds a 2.9-liter supercharger and other tweaks, including increased boost pressure, and air-to-water intercooler and a fuel-injector upgrade, that takes power to 768 hp at 7,000 rpm, making it more powerful than the

Ford GT

.

Other features include stainless steel cat-back exhaust, a dyno-tuned chassis and Hennessey Performance Engineering engine management calibration. You also get serial-numbered dash and engine plaques, Hennessey exterior badges and embroidery on the headrests.

There’s also a choice of sport kit or off-road upgrades. The former comes with a lowering kit, sway bars, Brembo

brake system

and 22-inch wheels with tires. Off-road upgrades include Hennessey front and rear bumpers with five LED lights embedded in the front ones, 20-inch 10-spoke wheels, 35-inch off-road tires and a front suspension leveling kit for an overall lift of 3 inches.

There’s no word on pricing;
